There is no greater feeling than the excitement of packing my bags and getting ready for my next adventure. There are few things in life that will impact you and travel is definitely one of them. Something happens to me every time I visit a new location in Kenya, whether I am on a safari in the Masai Mara or in a farmhouse in Naivasha, each place teaches me to take a moment of awe and make the most of it.

I spend my week in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi city spending long hours at work. When its time for my next adventure, its time to unplug, explore and discover new parts of myself. My visit to Mount Kilimambogo was one that touched me deeply, it was one of those moments where it’s hard to capture in words because it was definitely a transformative moment, it took me from my moment and reminded me of the person I love to be. I discovered an unfamiliar territory, experienced new adventures for the first time and immersed myself to new cultures.

Mount Kilimambogo is the Kikuyu name for Ol Donyo Sabuk; it means ‘Buffalo Mountain’. Ol Donyo Sabuk is a small village town located one and half hours drive from Nairobi city and is located between the border of Machakos and Thika. I was so excited to explore a small Kenyan town, it was a rainy day when we departed Nairobi and the surroundings looked absolutely stunning. Since a young age I have always been fascinated to raw and untouched places, we drove past villages, captured the lives of the local people and got caught in the moment of the magical surroundings as we arrived Ol Donyo Sapuk Farmhouse.

Ol Donyo Sapuk is located on the foothills of Mount Kilimambogo, as you enter the drive-way to the farm you are surrounded by miles and miles of pineapple plantations, swamps of farmland and the most magnificent views. The place is family owned by a lovely lady called Catherine, the warm welcome we received on arrival made us feel totally at home.

Spreading on 50 acres of lush green farmland with towering views of the mountain, the house is beautifully furnished and gives you a cozy and cushy feeling where you just want to snug like a bug in a rug. The staff were absolutely friendly and attentive and the best part is they make you feel like you are part of their family. I love places that give me the comfort of feeling like I am home.

The rooms are simply decorated with a touch of elegance giving it that splendid comfortable feelings. There are three different living rooms where you can relax and just unwind. The weather was chilly during our stay and we spent our nights by the fireside cuddling into talks and laughter. If you wish to spend your weekend relaxing, you can spend the day at the main house or on the verandas reading and chit chatting while enjoying the greenery and mountain views, horse ride across the farm land or take a dip into the pool. The meals are fresh and scrumptious and you can also experiences  pretty picnic and breakfast setup on the grass lawns accompanied by the horses.
